Scholee — Legal
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Scholee collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you use our scholarship-discovery platform. As a service for students worldwide, we are committed to handling your information in accordance with GDPR-style data-protection principles, and we honour these data rights for all users wherever applicable local laws apply. Scholee is a discovery tool — we never collect income or financial information.

1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of personal data, most of which you provide directly:
- Identity and contact: your name and email address.
- Profile and eligibility: citizenship, study level (e.g. Foundation, Diploma, Undergraduate, Master’s, PhD), field of study, and target countries.
- Grades: the academic results you enter, used only to compute scholarship matches.
- Usage data: saved scholarships, application activity, and basic technical/device information needed to operate and secure the service.
2. Why we use your information
- To match your profile and grades against our scholarship directory and present relevant opportunities.
- To create and manage your account and authenticate your access.
- To let you save scholarships, track applications, and use the AI advisor and AI essay assistant (subject to fair-use limits described in our Terms).
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the service.
- To communicate with you about your account, important changes, and support requests.
3. Legal basis and consent
Consistent with GDPR-style data-protection principles, we process your personal data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you create an account and submit your profile. We process only the data necessary to provide scholarship discovery. You may withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account or contacting us, after which we will stop processing your data and delete it as described below (subject to any legal retention obligations).
4. Children and minors
- Users under 18 must use Scholee with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
- We practise data minimisation for under-18 users and collect only the academic information needed for matching.
- A parent or guardian may request access to, correction of, or deletion of a minor’s data at any time.
- We never collect financial information from any student, and we do not knowingly use minors’ data for any purpose beyond scholarship discovery.
5. Service providers and sub-processors
We share personal data with a small number of trusted processors strictly to operate the service. Each is bound to protect your data:
- Supabase — hosting, database, and authentication (stores your profile, matches, and account).
- RevenueCat — manages subscription entitlements and status. RevenueCat does not receive your grades.
- Google (Gemini) — powers the in-app AI advisor and the AI essay assistant. When you use these features, the text you send (such as your questions or the answers you draft an essay from) is processed by Google to generate a response. This content is used only to provide the feature to you; it is not used to train advertising profiles, and we do not sell it.
- Apple and Google — app distribution (App Store / Google Play) and processing of subscription payments.
6. Data retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and you continue to use Scholee. When you delete your account or withdraw consent, we delete or irreversibly anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records to comply with legal obligations.
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security on our database — to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. No system is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to protect the limited data we hold.
8. Your rights
Subject to GDPR-style data-protection principles and applicable local law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Delete your data and account.
- Withdraw consent to our processing of your data at any time.
- Limit or object to certain processing of your data.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@scholee.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
9. Account deletion
You can delete your account at any time from within the app or by emailing support@scholee.com. Deleting your account removes your profile, grades, saved scholarships, and matches from our systems, subject to the retention exceptions noted above.
10. International data transfers
Some of our processors (such as Supabase, RevenueCat, and Google) may store or process data on servers located in other countries. Where data is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives a comparable level of protection consistent with GDPR-style data-protection principles and applicable local law.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
